Honest Soul Yoga is offering a free weekly, all-levels class at Pride Center San Antonio. The classes began on January 28 and are held on Tuesdays at 6 p.m.
“We are grateful to The Center for inviting us to share yoga in their space. The heart of yoga is unity, and making a connection with ourselves and others can be accelerated through group movement classes. Time spent moving on the yoga mat can fill a deep need for play and expression, and everyone should feel welcome to participate,” Julia Lopez, co-owner of Honest Soul Yoga, said in a press release.
The weekly class will be a blend of flowing movement, breath-work, and mindful restoration and meditation. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mat and water bottle. Pre-registration is not required.
Classes will be taught by Lisa Mayfield, Honest Soul Yoga’s studio manager, who is also a mom and Army wife.
“Yoga is about being present in the moment. Such a necessary skill to have as a military family. I never know what is coming down the pipe line, so staying in the present moment is a necessary survival tool . . . My yoga practice helps me to not only stay present but to be comfortable staying in (not bailing out), and being grateful for every moment,” Mayfield writes on the Honest Soul Yoga website.
Honest Soul has three locations Virginia in the cities of Alexandria, West Springfield and Falls Church. Their San Antonio studio, at 223 E Hildebrand Ave Suite 103, is set to begin offering classes on March 6.
“We consider it an honor and a privilege to share movement, exercise, meditation, and mindfulness in community spaces and we learn from The Center’s example of what it means to be a truly affirming, inclusive, and loving neighbor,” says Lopez.
