The San Antonio AIDS Foundation’s 27th annual Run and Walk for AIDS will step off on Saturday, October 6 at at the Wheatley Heights Sports Complex where hundreds of walkers and runners are expected to participate.
The event is one of the largest fundraisers of the year for SAAF. In 2016, organizers reportedly raised nearly $110,00 which funded SAAF’s client programs including free STD testing, a meals program, prevention education and specialty care.
The route of the run/walk begins and ends at Wheatley Heights Sports Complex and follows the contours of the Salado Creek Greenway. The festivities run from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
The annual event is held in a festival-like atmosphere with sponsor booths, a DJ spinning music and complimentary refreshments for attendees. It’s also family-friendly. Those attending will see single runners and walkers as well as parents with kids and pets in tow.
The entry fee is $30 for walkers and $35 for runners. All participants receive a packet containing the official event T-shirt, coupons and promo items.
