Beginning this week, the Rape Crisis Center in San Antonio is initiating a series of weekly workshops for LGBT adults who are survivors of sexual trauma.
Organizers say the group sessions will help survivors develop new coping skills and become empowered so they can “accept, grow and begin the healing process.”
A flyer from the Center lists the topics which will be covered in the workshops, including: “exploring the self; defining healthy relationships; labels in our society; communicating with loved ones; stress relief and self-care; the advocate in me; and the journey.”
The weekly workshops begin on Thursday, June 16 and will continue for eight weeks. Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions but are welcome to join anytime after the start date.
Counselors at the Rape Crisis Center recommend that everyone who takes the workshops receive additional counseling through a private counselor or with one of the counselors at the center. All services are completely free.
Workshops for LGBT adult survivors of sexual trauma begin Thursday, June 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rape Crisis Center, 7500 W US-90, 78227. Workshops continue weekly at the same time on Thursdays for eight weeks. For more information about these workshops, call 210-521-7273.
