The San Antonio Public Library is observing Pride Month with a series of events that focuses on different aspects of LGBT life. This is the fifth year the library has presented the series.
A statement on the library’s web site explains the aim of the month-long observance, “The Pride events planned in June are a part of the Library’s initiative to be relevant to a dynamic community and appeal to the many segments of a diverse city. The lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex community of San Antonio is vibrant, vital, and visible.”

Aging Issues & Concerns in the LGBTI Community

Donna Teall from the Bexar Area Agency on Aging of the Alamo Area Council of Governments, will present a program on aging and related issues in the LGBTI community. There will be a time for questions and answers. Refreshments will be served.

Join us for a panel discussion with local LGBTI artists who have contributed to the richness of the arts and humanities in San Antonio. For Pride Month and Watch OUT, the Bazan Branch Library presents the showing of the “Dallas Buyer’s Club”, starring Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto, and Jennifer Garner. This film was released in 2013 and is rated R. The program is free and open to the public.

This program deals with the transgender “coming out” process and how other factors impact the experience. The primary focus will be the socioeconomic influence and access to healthcare. The program will start with a film entitled “The T Is No Longer Silent”, followed by a panel discussion which will include the filmmaker, Keith Wichinski, who is a local area health provider.
