Business spotlight: Texas Public Radio

If you scanned the San Antonio radio waves during the ’80s in search of prime public programming, you’d be out of luck. In fact, San Antonio was one of the last sizeable cities in the country where listeners couldn’t get public radio. From this, Texas Public Radio emerged. Now, you can “hear yourself think” in South Texas.

With its Classical Oasis on KPAC 88.3 and its News and Views on KSTX 89.1, TPR streams a variety of content to its listeners, including favorites like the Diane Rehm Show, Car Talk, Fresh Air, and All Things Considered, as well as original local news and dialogue on Texas Matters and The Source.

But TPR’s significance reaches beyond your radio dial. The organization cares deeply about the future of its listeners and the land they live on. One notable initiative includes a partnership with the San Antonio River Authority in a restoration project for a 3.4-acre site along the San Antonio River involving local artist Carlos Cortes (more information about that here).

Tune in, or learn more at www.tpr.org. TPR also offers apps for any of your favorite mobile devices featuring live-stream options, on demand content, an alarm clock, and so much more.
