Fiesta Youth, a San Antonio nonprofit dedicated to offering support to LGBTQ young people, is hosting the Suicide Prevention Foundation Walk on November 7 honoring local LGBTQ advocate Hector Bove.

Bove, who was 42, passed away on July 29, 2020. He was a graduate of Taft High School in San Antonio, Harvard University and Northwestern University School of Law. For the eight years prior to his death, he was a property and casualty attorney at USAA.

“The Fiesta Youth non-profit organization along with many family members and friends will be walking in memory of a life gone way too soon by death by suicide. Hector Bove was a dear friend of Fiesta Youth and a great advocate for LGBTQ youth,” the board of Fiesta Youth wrote in an email.

“A loving soul with a smile and a laugh that was infectious. Hector was a dedicated volunteer behind the scenes to help Fiesta Youth gain support, sponsorship’s, volunteers, and advocate for our organization and many other non-profits in our community.

“. . . We hope to end the stigma of suicide and offer our full support to the Suicide Prevention Foundation to help prevent suicide from affecting another family.”

The November 7 event will be held at the Nelson W. Wolfe Municipal Stadium, 5757 US-90 West, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donations and registration for the walk are being accepted at this link.
