The Saint Showbar to close

The Saint Showbar announced it was closing on October 3.

After 23 years of drag shows, dance parties and happy hours, the Saint Showbar on Lexington Avenue announced it will be closing for good on Saturday, October 3.

Since it first opened its doors in 1992, The Saint has been a popular watering hole and mainstay on the Main Avenue Strip. First located on the 1400 block of Main, it later moved to Lexington Avenue across the street from Club Essence.

The club has had a long succession of owners over the years. The current owner is listed as Saint Night Club LLC.

The closing announcement was posted on the club’s Facebook page on Thursday. One source says employees were told the bar would close a month ago. No reason was given for the closure. However, many are speculating the club was having financial troubles.

In checking the records of the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission (TABC), Out In SA found the liquor license for The Saint has been restricted from purchasing alcohol because it owes $3486.79 in unpaid invoices to Gabriel’s Liquor.
