This week, Austin-based “drag terrorist” CHRISTEENE (born Paul Soileau) announced a new Idiegogo campaign to raise funds for an upcoming album and supporting videos. Fresh off her “America’s Moist Wanted” tour, the self-described “human pissoir of raw unabashed sexuality” plans to enter the studio in January and February in hopes of releasing a sophomore album in the spring of 2016.
On the campaign’s page, CHRISTEENE and her team write: “These past few years have been inspirational, educational, enlightening, dangerous and spiritualized in ways that are unimaginable. These vital elements have roosted themselves into the machinery of CHRISTEENE. Please help us take these amazing motions and bring them to life with the new album and videos.”
Released in 2012 (thanks to a $10,000 assist from fans via Kickstarter), CHRISTEENE’s debut album Waste Up, Kneez Down introduced the songs “Fix My Dick,” “Tears from My Pussy” and “African Mayonnaise,” along with memorable music videos created by filmmaker PJ Ravel. This time around, CHRISTEENE hopes to raise at least $25,000 for the follow-up album and supporting videos.
