The Linda Pace Foundation is hosting a book release party for Alejandro Diaz: It Takes a Village on Thursday, April 13 at Brick at Blue Star Arts Complex.

The book is the counterpart to the exhibition of the same name held at SPACE Gallery in 2015. It features essays by Kathryn Kanjo, Rita Gonzalez and poetic commentary by San Antonio-based artist Franco Mondini-Ruiz.

Diaz will be on hand to sign copies of the book which will be available for purchase.

“My work deals with the human condition and that encompasses all of us,” Diaz told Out in SA in 2015. “I think myself being gay has made me more sensitive to issues of justice and equality, and visibility for the underdog or the outsider. The LGBT community is one that has had to overcome great hurdles in terms of justice and equality, and having a visual presence.”

Alejandro Diaz: It Takes a Village Book Release, free, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thurs., April 13, at Brick at Blue Star Arts Complex, 108 Blue Star,(210) 262-8653  brickatbluestar.com
