In 1896, the Sullivan Carriage House was built for Texas civil-war hero turned banker Daniel J. Sullivan. By 1987, stonemasons were taking apart the piece of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture to move it to its new home at the San Antonio Botanical Garden. Nearly one hundred years after it was first built, the Carriage House was reopened and restored to its original grandeur.
Today, Anne Marie’s Carriage House Bistro resides in the building. Located just at the entrance of the botanical garden, the restaurant fuses incomparable views with “food from the heart with a passion for flavor, texture and variety.”
The menu is made from scratch with only the freshest ingredients – from the breads to the smoked meat to the dressings and desserts. With specials and “healthy options” daily, patrons are guaranteed flavors as varied as the flowers on view.
