Fundraisers set for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve

Darrell and Jason Garcia Parsons are hosting a fundraiser for the non-profit Dusty Paws Animal Rescue in honor of their dog Champ who passed away earlier this year.

Two holiday fundraisers will be bringing cheer to the community while raising funds for two worthy organizations, one dedicated to dog rescue and the other for an important LGBT organization.

When Darrell and Jason Garcia Parsons lost their beloved pet dog Champ last year they were devastated. Champ was adopted by Darrell from the Michigan Animal Rescue League in 2000.

“Over the next 15 years, Champ and I shared many adventures together. He was a well-traveled dog; from swimming in the Great Lakes to floating the Gulf of Mexico and hiking the woods of Northern Michigan to visiting the Big Horn and Rocky Mountain ranges. He moved with me from Michigan to Wyoming and all the way down here to Texas.” says Darrell.

The Garcia Parsons have since adopted another dog, Journey, who they acquired through San Antonio Dusty Paws Animal Rescue, a non-profit committed to alleviating the strain on the high kill shelters by rescuing dogs directly from animal control, as well as taking in strays and owner surrenders.

As a tribute to Champ, the Garcia Parsons are hosting a benefit for Dusty Paws at their home on December 24. They hope to make this an annual event. There will be appetizers, sweet treats and libations. Guests are asked to donate gift cards to pet supply stores or cash and checks. Dog-related items like new leashes, collars, etc. are welcome as well.

Anyone who can’t attend but wants to help can send donations to San Antonio Dusty Paws 6531 FM 78, Suite#110-419, San Antonio, Texas 78244. To ask about adoption, call 716-775-PAWS.
