On Main Hosting Frida Look-Alike Contest, Birthday Bazaar

This portrait of Frida Kahlo by Kat Pruitt from Taos New Mexico will be the grand prize in the Frida-Look-Alike Contest at On Main Off Main's birthday party and bazaar on July 9.

On Main Off Main, Monte Vista’s popular gift store, is hosting a Frida Kahlo Birthday Party and Bazaar at its store on July 9.

Frida Kahlo de Rivera, born Magdalena Carmen Frieda Kahlo y Calderón, was a Mexican painter known for her self-portraits. Her image has become iconic in popular culture.

On Main’s event will feature a Frida Khalo look-alike contest. The winner of the contest will take home an oil painting of Frida by artist Kat Pruitt from Taos New Mexico.

The will also be a Frida Bazaar with nifty Frida-themed goodies ranging from cloth dolls to candles, books, coffee mugs and more.

Featured artist for the bazaar is Deloris Gonzales-Jarvis of Mujeres Gonzalez Art who will be presenting items from her line of Frida-inspired art, gifts and accessories.

“Don’t forget your unibrow and best dress and rebozo to enter to win great prizes,” reads the Facebook invitation. Music, cake, wine and refreshments will be provided.

On Main Off Main presents Frida’s Birthday Party and Look-Alike Contest, Saturday, July 9 from Noon to 4 p.m. at the store, 120 W. Mistletoe in Monte Vista.
