What happens when two 20-something lovers decide to stick it out after one of them is caught straying? Season two of the critically acclaimed LGBT dark comedy web series EastSiders explores such topics as infidelity, STDs, and all the heartache that comes with most relationships. Featuring an all-star cast — including series creator Kit Williamson (Mad Men) and Emmy nominee Van Hansis (As the World Turns) as the gay couple Cal and Thom — the second season of EastSiders was released on DVD this week from Wolfe Video after premiering on Vimeo on Demand back in September.
“I wanted to break open the love triangle from season one,” Williamson explained in a recent press release. “Jealousy is only interesting to a point. What happens when it’s removed from the equation? There are so many different ways human beings connect with each other, and there is no one way that is right for everybody. The show deals with many different kinds of relationships, from ex-boyfriends getting back together, to friends starting a new relationship, to a lesbian couple with two kids finally married.”
The series, which has relied largely on a Kickstarter campaign for funding, first gained a following after its first two episodes premiered on YouTube in December of 2012. Since then, the series has appeared on various digital platforms including LogoTV.com and Vimeo on Demand. A film version of EastSiders also aired on Logo’s cable network.
The series is available for digital download and DVD purchase at EastSidersTheSeries.com.
