Fred Garza-Guzman and his husband, Stephen Garza-Guzman, co-owners of Curious Twins Paranormal, are planning an event that will combine the trappings of Christmas, the legend of the evil Krampus, a holiday market and a fideo cook-off thrown in for good measure.
As a paranormal investigative and tour company, Curios Twins’ Fideo Cook-Off and Merry Krampus Market offers a twisted spin on the holiday season. The theme is very much in keeping with a business that offers graveyard tours and psychic readings.
The event, which will be held at Brick at Blue Star on November 30, will feature specialty raffles and a “dark Christmas” history pop-up exhibition.
Attendees will be able to take photos with the Krampus, a half-goat, half-demon, who during the Christmas season, punishes children who have misbehaved. In East European history, the Krampus served as a counterpoint to St. Nicholas, who rewarded well-behaved children with gifts.
The fideo cook-off will include some of San Antonio’s best cooks vying for the first prize which will be determined by votes from attendees who are invited to sample the entries.
In their press release, Curious Twins emphasizes that this event is for everyone: “The creepy company that organized the Paranormal Fest and other local haunted happenings is back with a curious holiday event for the entire family.”
Curios Twins Paranormal Fideo Cook-Off & Merry Krampus Market, Friday, November 30 from 7 – 11 p.m. at Brick at Blue Star Arts Complex, 108 Blue Star. $5 suggested donation.
