Who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned dance-a-thon? Put on your dancing boots and head over to LezRideSA’s first ever Jotos Y Recuerdos Dance-A-Thon this Saturday at La Botánica Vegan Restaurant and Bar. Dancing begins at 7 p.m. and all LGBTQ friends, family members and allies are encouraged to groove the night away for a chance to win $300. The always-entertaining Molly Cox (president and CEO of SA 2020) will emcee the event and Vee’s Chop Shop will be offering butch barber cuts from 7 to 10 p.m. for a small donation.
The LezRideSA Coalition was founded in 2014 by Anel Flores, Erika Casasola, Kate Scully and Lisa Ortega to “promote, inspire and support LGBTQ inclusion, diversity, wellness and community building through healthy adventures.” The group also hosts weekly fitness activities and events. Visit their Facebook page for the latest news.
Proceeds from Jotos Y Recuerdos go toward LezRideSA’s FunFund Scholarship, benefiting local LGBTQ youth organizations. Tickets are $20 for individual dancers, $30 for couples and $10 for spectators and admirers.
