Possibly the most unusual aspect of San Antonio’s annual Pride Bigger Than Texas Parade and Festival (taking place July 1 in Crockett Park), Pride Championship Wrestling (PCW) bills itself as “the first LGBT wrestling organization in San Antonio and the United States.”

Presented in partnership with The Royal, Sovereign and Imperial Court of the Alamo Empire (a volunteer-based nonprofit supporting individuals affected by HIV/AIDS), PCW’s spring fling features matchups between Minnesota wrestling vet and Laredo native Mad One; Valor Wrestling Champion Michael Autumn and “Hot Damn” Jesse James; Texas Wrestling Association (TWA) co-general manager Madness and Laredo Wrestling Alliance (LWA) rookie Dyl Dempsey; and a TWA Tag Team Championship match pitting Logan Shellaby and Corvice against Joey Dynamite and Aire Fuego.

A wild throwdown with an admirable purpose, Wrestle Empire benefits four important nonprofit endeavors: We Are Alive, Stand Up for Kids, Martinez Street Women’s Center and Fiesta Youth.

$5, 8pm Sat, Apr. 1, Texas Wolverine All-Star Gym, 1334 S. Flores St., (210)550-9975, alamoempire.org.
