Tickets are going fast for Fiesta Youth‘s second annual masquerade fundraiser dubbed Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil slated for April 9 at Keith Wichinski and David Willett’s historic mansion in Dignowity Hill.
Organizers at Fiesta Youth are touting the masquerade party as a pre-Fiesta event which will include dancing under the stars, a silent auction, open bar and bites.
The mission of Fiesta Youth is to provide “a safe, non-judgmental, affirming place for LBGT teens to express and explore who they are through education, peer-support, advocacy and friendship.” The group meets on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at University Presbyterian Church, 300 Bushnell.
Fiesta Youth was organized in 2013 by founder Emily Leeper, a San Antonio mom with a teenage lesbian daughter. Leeper started the LGBT youth group after finding out there was none in the city.
In January 2015, Fiesta Youth expanded by adding Fiesta U, a twice-monthly support group for young adults aged 18 to 24 that meets from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of the month at the Unity Heights Community Center, 8103 Broadway.
The location of Fiesta Youth’s party is especially beautiful, being situated along a row of historic mansions which face Dignowity Park. The house next door to the party is the home of Mayor Ivy Taylor who made a brief appearance at last year’s event.

General admission: $50. VIP Admission: $75. Co-host: $125. Online ticket sales will close at noon on April 8. If available, ticket prices at the door will be $15 higher for each level.
