The San Antonio LGBT Chamber of Commerce is holding its Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon on May 29, during which they will honor three “extraordinary San Antonians with awards in recognition of [their] contributions to advance the LGBT Community.”
In their announcement for the event, the Chamber board writes, “As the largest gathering of LGBT business professionals and allies of the year, the San Antonio LGBT Chamber is working to increase visibility and equity within the region’s business community, and this meeting will be an opportunity to connect and network with fellow professionals as well as laying the groundwork to meet the needs of the LGBT community at large.”
Awards will be given to:
Ray Chavez, the founder and artistic director of Fiesta Cornyation, will receive the Community Impact Award.
Rene Watson, director of Small Business and Entrepreneurship for Bexar County, will receive the Chamber Champion Award.
Sgt. Stephanie Flores, who works for the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office of Special Projects and serves as the Sheriff’s liaison to the LGBTQ community, will receive the Advocate of the Year Award.
Three new board members will be installed during the meeting portion of the event. They are: Mellisa Ochoa (president); David Cruz (vice president); and Javier Gonzalez (secretary).
